EDUCATIONAL ROBOTICS

Educational Robotics is an effective tool for the development of cognitive strategies by children. It is carried out with the active participation of children who work in teams and work as a combination of many sciences, mainly IT, electronics and mechanical engineering.
Dealing with robotics involves two types of activities: construction and programming. The children build robotic structures and then program them to give solutions to authentic problems posed by the teacher based on their experiences, interests and needs.
Educational Robotics activities require special equipment and specifically LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 robotics.

THEATRE

Theatrical play is a pleasant way of expression and creation. It helps children who are more introverted to express themselves. Its goal is to explore and discover the world around them, but also to find their own place in it.

Children think, coexist, interact and socialize. They have fun, while at the same time developing their language skills, providingmental relaxation, and promoting self-confidence.

Through theatrical play the child is active while exercising their imagination and freely expressing themselves emotionally and physically. The children can enjoy the perks of theatre without being judged, and can focus on expressing themselves outside of the rules and expectations of the theater.

Children think, coexist, interact, discover, deepen and rejoice in a process that starts from various stimuli, such as a poem, a short story, a performance, an internet video, a newspaper article or a picture.

Play, body movement, silence and pausing, improvisation and role play will give each child relief, enjoyment, helping them to understand themselves but also the needs and beliefs of others.

Furthermore, theatrical education is very important as it helps introverted children to express themselves, because here communication is not only done by verbal communication but by using other expressive means, such as improvisation, movement, and even silence”.

Within the Theatrical Game, the dramatisation of a Fairy tale is also included. Dramatisation is the transformation of a fairy tale from a simple story into a theatrical play. It has a very creative outcome through which children can express themselves, strengthen their self-confidence, and develop their creativity and imagination.

They also manage to communicate, share and understand the world in which they live, gradually develop the possibility of self-expression (verbal and non-verbal) and self-control of emotions and behavior.

Also included in the Theatrical Game is a Fairytale Narration.

Storytelling releases the imagination and stimulates their curiosity. It helps children learn to concentrate and focus their attention. It enriches their vocabulary and helps in the development of their brain. Finally, it relaxes them after a long day full of obligations and extracurricular activities.

For the activities of the Theatrical Game items such as fabrics, musical instruments (drums), hats, books with fairy tales are used.

VISUAL ARTS AND ART WORKSHOPS

It consists of a workshop that refers to visual art and in particular to drawing (with various materials or mixtures of them) and sculpture. Children’s involvement with art has many benefits, such as cultivating their creativity, developing their problem solving abilities, developing skills such as team work, concentration, perseverance and self-confidence. In addition, children receive opportunities to develop their aesthetic criteria through contact and observation of works of art by famous artists.

During visual arts children learn the History of Art.

The history of art is a chapter of humanities that deals with the scientific study and research of the arts, especially the visual arts, during their historical development. The subject of art history theoretically extends throughout the world from the earliest prehistory to the present day.

Children have a great interest in the history of arts, as through the workshop they understand the concept of time and evolution that takes place, they get to know the culture and civilisation of various populations, they learn about the way of life, the organisation of society, the birth and evolution of the arts, they develop observation through contact with works of art, learn about the sources of knowledge and ways of exploring the past, develop their aesthetic criterion within a specific context and create works of art with specific stimuli.

During our Art Workshops, children learn through the process of creation, cultivate aesthetics and are able to perceive what is beautiful and what is not. They therefore acquire critical thinking through the world of painting. They learn to collaborate and communicate through teamwork. . They get to know amazing artists and various techniques. Finally, it helps with the emotional development of children like most arts.

For our art activities the following are required, colours, pencils, crayons, watercolors, oil pastels, felt tips, charcoal, clay, plasticine, glues, scissors, paper by the meter, cardboard and many more materials.

CREATIVE MOVEMENT AND PLAY

Play is a biological need for children, however it is limited during a school year and replaced by a variety of extracurricular activities. This workshop utilises team play aiming to release children’s energy through, entertainment, fun and enjoyment. It helps children to experience and express their emotions, while at the same time their imagination is stimulated. In addition, with the activities of this module, their creativity, concentration and rapid thinking are developed, and children learn to reflect and give solutions. It promotes physical activity, the adherence to rules, but also the acquisition of skills such as teamwork, respect, cooperation, conflict resolution and finding solutions.

For the activities of Creative Movement and play, balls, hoops and pins are used.

SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENTS

Through observation and experimentation, children learn to reflect, to think logically, they discover how mistakes are made (an experiment can fail), but mistakes are precisely what help us learn, tο correct them and accept that failure is the beginning of something new. They also learn to love nature and to look at the world around them.

As we get older, we hear about natural phenomena and learn about attributes of the world, but without really understanding the reasons and effects of these phenomena and attributes. Through the scientific experiments contained in this educational package, children learn through experiments the natural phenomena encountered in the sciences of physics and chemistry, and by extension in our daily lives.

Through play and team work, children discover characteristics of materials and interact with natural phenomena, such as the phenomenon of pressure, static electricity, rubber properties and others. Children can then better understand the basic mechanisms of the world and the planet we live on!

For the activities of the Scientific Experiments we require simple materials which can be found inside each of our houses, also Physics instruments and Chemistry reagents with which our centers are fully equipped.

CINEMA TIME

A different film awaits our children, once a week.

Watching films has an educational dimension, giving children a variety of stimuli. Through the films, various answers are given, to their questions about the world but also allows them to travel to imaginary worlds.

Each film is followed by a discussion and the children express their thoughts. Thus, enjoyment, fun and education are combined.

Cinema activities require a large television or projector.

MUSIC

Musical games, theory, introduction to great composers (work and short biography), instrumental knowledge, construction of musical instruments and the history of music.

These activities require a stereo system, musical instruments, a harmonium, a guitar, a xylophone and percussion instruments.

HOMEWORK / STUDY GROUP

A School Study group is offered 2 hours a day for children whose mothers work and request it. The service is provided by Primary Education Teachers (Teachers or nursery Teachers) or Secondary Education (Philologists or Mathematicians).
